Custom Stencil Services
Can you create custom stencils for my business logo or design?
Yes! We specialize in converting business logos, custom text, and unique designs into professional-grade stencils. We have created custom stencils for coffee shops, industrial equipment marking, wedding decor, and large-scale wall art and murals.
How do I order a custom stencil?
You can order directly through our Custom Stencil Page. For complex logos or bulk orders, please contact us using the chant box at the bottom of the page, or email hossein@stencilmepretty.com.
What file formats do you accept for custom orders?
For the best results, we prefer vector files (PDF, AI, SVG, or EPS). These allow us to scale your design to any size without losing quality. We can also work with high-resolution JPEG or PNG files (at least 300 DPI), though simple black-and-white images work best. We can work with a concept or idea as well - with a creative design fee applied to the process. We frequently provide creative design services to our interior design customers, restaurants, and hotels.
What material do you use for custom stencils?
We use 10 mil Mylar plastic. This material is the industry gold standard because it is:
-
Durable: Tear-resistant and built to last.
-
Reusable: Can be washed and used hundreds of times.
-
Flexible: Conforms to curved surfaces like barrels or pillars.
How long does it take to make a custom stencil?
We take pride in our fast turnaround. Most custom orders are cut and shipped within 2-3 business days from our Denver, CO studio. Larger projects may take longer and can require a collaborative work flow between Stencil me pretty and the client. We pride ourselves with excellent communication during these projects.
What exactly is a custom stencil?
A custom stencil is a design created specifically for your project—your wall, your furniture piece, your pattern idea, your almost-forgotten childhood motif that suddenly insists on returning. It’s the difference between off-the-rack and tailor-made. The shape is yours; the execution is ours.
Why would I choose a custom stencil instead of a ready-made one?
Because sometimes beauty refuses to arrive in standard sizes.
Custom stencils exist for rooms that don’t care about catalog dimensions, for heirloom furniture that begs for a particular flourish, and for homeowners who want their spaces to feel as personal as a handwritten note.
Ready-made stencils are excellent; custom stencils are intimate.
How does the custom design process work?
You tell us your vision—sometimes it’s a sketch on a napkin, sometimes it’s a photograph, sometimes it’s just a feeling with no shape yet. We translate it into a digital design, refine it with you, and then cut it with precision so clean it feels like an apology to every stencil you’ve used before.
In short:
You bring the idea.
We bring the structure.
Together, we make something worth keeping.
What kinds of projects can be done with custom stencils?
Almost anything with a surface.
Walls, floors, wood furniture, tiles, fabric, concrete, signage, storefronts, accent panels, murals, and decorative borders.
If paint adheres to it, a stencil probably will too.
Can you match an existing pattern?
Yes. If your grandmother’s wallpaper has long since been discontinued, if a café down the street has a tile pattern you can’t stop thinking about, if you’re trying to link a new room to an old one—send us a photo. We can recreate motifs, repeat patterns, borders, and entire historical styles with quiet fidelity.
How detailed can a custom stencil be?
Quite detailed—but with common-sense limits.
Sharp corners, graceful curves, arabesques, flourishes, florals, geometric repeats—these translate beautifully. Extremely fragile linework or microscopic detail may require adjustment. We’ll guide you toward a version that’s faithful to your idea and practical to paint.
How long does it take to receive a custom stencil?
Most projects take 2–5 business days for design and proofing and another 1–3 days for production. Shipping times vary by location, but we move quickly. Nostalgia waits for no one.
How durable are your stencils? Can I reuse them?
Our stencils are cut from high-quality Mylar, strong enough to withstand repeated use, resistant to tearing, and forgiving enough to survive even enthusiastic beginners. Clean them gently, store them flat, and they’ll last years.
What sizes do custom stencils come in?
Whatever size your project requires—from tiny drawer accents to sweeping wall-to-wall patterns and murals. Just tell us the dimensions of your working area, and we’ll scale your stencil accordingly.
Do you help with layout and pattern repetition?
Absolutely. Whether you’re creating a full repeat pattern or a single central motif, we provide guidance on alignment marks, tiling, and spacing. Think of it as the map that keeps you from painting yourself into a corner.
Can I request edits after seeing the initial design?
Yes. Revisions are part of the process. Your space deserves something that feels right—not “good enough.”
What type of paint should I use with a stencil?
Most acrylic, latex, chalk, and craft paints work beautifully. The real secret is restraint—too much paint will bleed; too little won’t register. A stencil brush, a roller, or even a foam dauber will do the job. And if you’re unsure, we’re happy to advise based on your project.
Will my custom stencil come with instructions?
Yes, instructions will be emailed to you whenever its called for. You’ll receive simple, calm guidance—no panic, no fussy technical jargon—so you can enjoy the process. The whole point is to make beauty feel possible. And some projects just don't need much guidance, so we won't burden you with our opinions. Every client and every design is a little different from the previous one.
What if I’ve never used a stencil before?
Perfect. Beginners make some of our most beautiful work. The process is forgiving, repetitive, and deeply satisfying. Once you pull that first stencil away and see the pattern beneath, you’ll understand why people keep coming back.
Do you keep the rights to my custom design?
No. Your design is yours. We won’t resell or repurpose a private design unless you explicitly want us to. Privacy and ownership matter, especially when a design carries personal meaning.
What makes Stencil Me Pretty’s custom work different?
Craftsmanship, narrative, and nostalgia.
We don’t merely translate an image into Mylar; we shape it so it behaves on a wall, respects the physics of paint, and carries the emotional tone you intended.
Our job is to make your memory—or your idea of beauty—hold fast to a surface.

Stenciling Tips & Tricks
How do I prevent paint from bleeding under the stencil?
The #1 secret to perfect stenciling is using a "dry brush" technique.
-
Load your brush or roller with a small amount of paint.
-
Offload most of the paint onto a paper towel until the brush feels almost dry.
-
Apply multiple thin layers rather than one thick layer.
-
Use a spray adhesive on the back of the stencil to hold it tight against the surface.
How do I clean my stencils?
-
For Acrylic/Latex Paint: Soak the stencil in warm soapy water for 10-15 minutes, then gently scrub with a soft brush.
-
For Spray Paint: We recommend using a specialized stencil cleaner or paint remover (test on a small area first).
-
Always store your stencils flat to prevent bending.
